It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Larry Bloodworth, a longtime member of ATRA, a dedicated shop owner, and a passionate advocate for the transmission industry. Larry’s presence will be profoundly missed.
Throughout his career, Larry owned and operated several transmission repair shops, with the last being Certified Transmission in Draper, Utah, which he ran alongside his wife, Lorraine. Beyond his business, Larry was an active participant in various industry forums, always eager to share his insights, advice, and opinions on a wide range of topics. His knowledge and willingness to help others made a lasting impact on those around him.
Lorraine reached out to GEARS shortly after Larry’s passing to share a piece of his remarkable story. In the 1970s, Larry survived a life-threatening car accident, an event that shaped his perspective on life. Grateful for the doctors and nurses who saved him, he always felt a deep sense of gratitude toward the medical community. It was his wish to give back in a meaningful way, and in honor of that wish, Lorraine has donated his body to the University of Utah Medical Program. There, he will continue to teach and inspire future medical professionals before being cremated and returned to his family.
Larry’s legacy in our industry, his generosity of spirit, and his unwavering passion for his work will not be forgotten. Our thoughts are with Lorraine and all who knew and loved him during this difficult time.
