We are sad to report the passing of industry veteran, Jimmy Vargas. The following was submitted to GEARS by his grandson, Jimmy Alejandrovich Vargas. We are honored to share his thoughts and memories of his grandfather.
My grandfather used to tell me often that his life, from an early age, was very beautiful. He was surrounded by motorcycles since he was 12 years old, and at 18 years old he married Rocío Diaz, my grandmother. He commented that he had married very much in love. They had two daughters, the eldest is Jennifer Melissa and the youngest is Ielena Maria. They have 4 grandchildren, 2 women, one 20 and the other 14 years old, and two boys. I am the eldest of the grandchildren, 23 years old and my little brother is 7 years old.
They married on July 4, and precisely this year they were celebrating 43 years of marriage. My grandfather was a fan of motors, he always worked in his own 
businesses. He had a motorcycle workshop for many years, and he also represented companies such as Yamaha and Peisa Used Motorcycles. He was a national racer in Cuadracross and Motocross, being Sub Champion on several occasions; he loved what he did. In the year 2000 they went to live in the United States, in Florida, and returned to Costa Rica in 2007. This is when he began his career as an automatic transmission mechanic. Upon returning to Costa Rica, he opened his own business alongside my grandmother. They dedicated themselves, for more than 25 years, to work very hard for their great economic well-being in what he always dreamt of. He traveled twice to Belarus to receive training in purchase and sales, and torque converter rebuilding with Kinergo, then representing the brand throughout Latin America. He traveled to several countries like Brazil and Bolivia to train the staff and visited the companies that had purchased equipment.
He was a very hard-working man, he loved to be up to date with technology, he studied too much, and it was like that, that he fulfilled his dream when he obtained the Master Certification from ATRA and was very proud of his great achievements and his titles. He was a man with a well-known career in our country and outside the borders. He had great goals, fortunately he left us a great legacy and leaving traces in our lives and the lives of the people who loved him very much. Unfortunately, he had cancer of the right kidney causing bone metastases in the spine and lungs, ultimately causing his death, Jimmy Vargas was born on January 16th, 1963, and died on May 31st, 2023. Passed away at the Rafael Ángel Guardia San José Costa Rica Central Hospital, his burial took place on June 3rd, 2023.

Contaba mi abuelo que su vida desde muy temprana edad fue muy linda desde sus 12 años, estuvo rodeado de motocicletas, a los 18 añitos, se casó con mi abuela Rocío Diaz, comentaba que se había casado muy enamorado, tuvieron dos hijas la mayor se llama Jennifer, y la menor Ielena, tienen 4 nietos 2 mujeres una de 20 años y la otra de 14 años y dos varones yo soy el mayor de los nietos con 23 años . y mi hermano pequeño tiene 7 años, por cierto, se habían casados un 4 Julio y precisamente este año celebraban sus 43 años de casados. Mi abuelo fue fanático a los motores , siempre trabajo en sus negocios propios tuvo un taller de motocicletas lo tuvo por muchos años y también tuvo representación de compañías como lo fue Yamaha , motocicletas usadas Peisa , fue piloto corredor nacional en Cuadra Cross, y motocross, y en varias ocasiones quedando Sub Campeón, él amaba lo que hacía , en el año 2000 se fueron a vivir a los Estados Unidos y vivieron en el estado de la Florida regresando a Costa Rica 2007 , así comenzó su inicio como mecánico en transmisiones automática, regresando a Costa Rica instalando su negocio propio en compañía de mi abuela la cual se dedicaron a trabajar muy duro por su gran bienestar económico se dedicó durante más de 25 años trabajando en lo que más le gusto por el paso de sus sueños viajo en dos ocasiones a Bielorrusia a recibir capacitación para el uso y preparación y mantenimiento compra de equipo de reconstrucción de Convertidores de Par, en la marca Kinergo así también teniendo la representación a nivel latinoamericanos luego viajo a varios países como Brasil, Bolivia a capacitar al personal cuyas empresas también habían comprado dichos equipos, fue un hombre muy trabajador le encantaba estar al día con la tecnología estudiaba demasiado, y fue así tanto que cumplió su sueño cuando obtuvo la certificación de Master de ATRA y se sentía muy orgullo de sus grandes logros y de sus títulos. Fue un hombre con una trayectoria muy conocido en nuestro País y fuera de fronteras tenía grandes metas, afortunadamente nos dejó un gran legado y dejando huellas muy marcada en nuestras vidas y las vidas de las personas que lo querían mucho. Lastimosamente tenía cáncer de riñón derecho causándoles muchas metástasis en los huesos en la medalla espinal pulmones en fin causándole su muerte, Jimmy Vargas nació un 16/01/1963 y fallese 31/05/2023. Muriendo el Hospital Central Rafael Ángel Guardia San José Costa Rica, su sepelio se realizó 03/06/2023.
