General Motors Recalls Over 90,000 Vehicles Due to Transmission Control Valve Issue

Detroit, MI – March 17, 2025 – General Motors (GM) has announced a recall of more than 90,000 vehicles across several Cadillac and Chevrolet models due to a potential defect in the transmission control valve. The affected vehicles include:

  • 2020-2021 Cadillac CT4
  • 2020-2021 Cadillac CT5
  • 2019-2020 Cadillac CT6
  • 2020-2022 Chevrolet Camaro

These models are equipped with a 10-speed transmission that may experience “excess wear” in the transmission control valve over time. This wear can lead to “harsh shifting” and, in rare cases, a “momentary” lock-up of the wheels, increasing the risk of a crash.

To address this issue, GM will implement a software update designed to detect excess wear approximately 10,000 miles before a potential wheel lock-up could occur. If excess wear is identified, the system will place the transmission into fifth gear until the next key cycle, preventing the wheel lock-up condition. Owners of affected vehicles will receive notification letters starting April 21, 2025, and are advised to contact their local GM dealership to schedule the software update, which will be provided at no charge.

GM emphasizes that the safety of its customers is the company’s highest priority and is working diligently to remedy this matter promptly.
