Cookeville, TN (February 13, 2025) – American Powertrain^®, the nation’s leading distributor of TREMEC^® transmissions and the source of modern overdrive systems for muscle cars, classic trucks, and customs, introduces a 5-speed TREMEC Pro-Fit TKX transmission conversion kit for 1982-’05 Chevy S-10 / GMC S-15 pickups and SUVs. The kit, designed to be a turnkey swap, works for most any LS or GM V8 conversion to 5-speed and includes a new streamlined TREMEC Pro-Fit TKX 5-speed transmission that touts 8,000 RPM shift capability and 600 lb-ft of torque capacity.

Also included with American Powertrain’s kit is a White Lightning Billet TKX Mid-Shift conversion that is designed for a factory tunnel fitment and features a crisp, short throw shift. Other kit features include a Hydramax hydraulic clutch bearing, and hydraulic clutch pedal assembly,  driveshaft, polyurethane transmission mount, pilot bearing for LS engines (SBC/BBC swaps), reverse light harness, speedometer (electronic or mechanical), shifter knob in addition to all hardware, instructions and warranty. A custom kit for automatic conversions is available.
