Former leader in the transmission aftermarket and a friend to many of us, Dennis Erickson, Sr., founder of Tallahassee-based Superior Transmission Parts, inc. died on November 27th at age 72. Dennis started Superior in 1987 and shortly thereafter acquired Fairbanks Performance Products. He was often seen displaying the company’s products at weekend seminars and industry trade shows.

He was quick to point out that all the kits and other products from Superior/Fairbanks were “Made in the USA” and Superior continues that still today.

Dennis Sr. retired in 2007, Dennis Jr. and Russell Erickson took on the day to day operations and the machine centers.

Retirement meant enjoying his hobbies of playing guitar, boating and diving but especially fishing. He will be dearly missed by all.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roy. He is survived by his wife, Roxanne (Roxy), sons Dennis Jr. and Russell and brother, Paul.

A celebration of life is planned Wednesday, December 11, 2:00 PM at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Rd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
