In Memory of James “Jimmy” Arledge

James “Jimmy” Arledge passed away on 6/6/2023 due to heart complications, he was 79 yrs. old. He joined Superior in 1995, as a technical hotline and R and D specialist and continued working at Superior Transmission Parts, Inc. for almost 3 decades. Over that time span he invented and developed many of the kits and fixes that many of you use on a daily basis in your shops.

His 1st royaltied invention was the AXOD/AXOD-E/AX4S Lube Dam that put Superior, as a front runner back in 1996, he enjoyed inventing fixes and procedures to help transmission techs world-wide. His famous K48RE Shift Correction Package® or the K0102 / K0185 with the “Jimmy” Tool was a great aid in helping not to have to pull a unit if the band slipped off the seat on a AOD-E / 4R70 type unit.

On the outside, He was a headstrong man with a soft heart. On first impression, you’d be weary of seeing him again. Once you were around him for a while, and got past that hard shell he had, you knew that he was a good man. Jimmy would do anything for you, albeit fussing the whole time. Jimmy worked hard all his life and was a man with integrity. Everyone who’s met him will be forever grateful to have known a man with such devotion and generosity, to his friends and his industry.

Over the last 15 years, he was the main contact on the Superior / Fairbanks Tech Hotline and if you called here at Superior or Fairbanks he would have been the one you spoke to. He loved to help anyone who called even if it didn’t involve one of our products he would step in to help and make sure the tech understood what he was doing and why. He will be truly missed.
